THE EVENT: On June 12th 2010 at Randall’s Island’s Ichan Stadium in New York, the adidas High School Dream Mile will debut at the adidas Grand Prix. In the spirit of Jim Ryun and other legendary high school preps, adidas is looking to give the country’s best female and male scholastic standouts a world-class opportunity and experience at the nation’s first Diamond League event.
QUALIFYING: Based upon predetermined time standards both male and female milers will have the ability to automatically qualify for the event. The race fields will be limited to 12 participants. If there are not 12 automatic qualifiers, the remaining spots will be filled by invitation only. Only non-altitude marks achieved between the dates of January 1, 2010 and June 5, 2010 at FAT-timed competitions will be accepted. All athletes need to have competed at the high school level in the spring of 2010.
Automatic Qualifying Standards:
Boys:
1500m – 3:50.00
1600m – 4:05.00
1 Mile – 4:07.00
Girls:
1500m – 4:25.00
1600m – 4:43.00
1 Mile – 4:45.00
THE TRIP: Invited athletes will receive an all-expense paid trip to New York City to compete in the adidas Dream Mile at the adidas Grand Prix Diamond League meet.
The events will be conducted as junior competitions and will be run under a USATF Sanction. Athletes will be required to arrive in New York City no later than Friday, June 11th.
